Jesus answered ... "I have said you are God " John 10:34

Further Conflict Over Jesus’ Claims  John 10:22-42

Then came the Festival of Hanukkah at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. The people who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”

Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe.

The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,  but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

I and the Father are ONE.
Again his opponents picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”
“We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”
Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in the Torah , ‘I have said you are God (Elohim)”’?  If he called them ‘Elohim,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside  what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?  Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father.  But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”  Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.
Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed,  and many people came to him. They said, “Though John never performed a sign, all that John said about this man was true.” And in that place many believed in Jesus.

Jesus (Yeshu) was Executed for saying he was One with God.

Jesus, known as Yeshu ha Notzri in 1st Century Israel, was executed  (Talmud Sanhedrin 43a) for saying that he was "One with God", and that the Kingdom of God was within Everyone.

He also said may they One day understand that we are all One in God....   When the authorities said that they would kill him for Blasphemy, for claiming to be God, Jesus said to them " Doesn't your own Torah say that You are God " John 10, Psalm 82:6

So indeed it is very clear that Jesus was teaching the Immanence, the Infinite Oneness of God. It is a Pan-theistic view. All is God. Pan = All + Theos = God

There is a Chassidic phrase "Ein od Milvado" which means There is none else besides Him. It is from the phrase "God is One, there is nothing other than God" This can mean that only One God exists or it could be interpreted as Nothing exists except God. Everything is God.

The mystics understand this concept. It is called Monism, and Non dualism. It is the Pantheistic concept that only God exists. Everything, including you and I and this screen, that tree, this rock are all a part of God. Nothing exists except God. Does this mean that I am God ? No it means that everything taken together forms God. I and you are only a part. It is everything. So I cannot claim to be the One Sole Creator of all but indeed I am not separate from God and neither are you. It means that God (Universe/Nature) does not create the Universe out of nothing, it would mean that Everything is created from Everything.

We have always existed. Indeed before Abraham, before Adam, We existed. God is Infinite so there is nothing separate or apart from God (God/Universe/Nature etc) All is one.

In Chabad philosophy, the phrase means much more. Not only is there no other god besides Him, there is nothing besides Him—literally. Only G‑d exists. This is a statement on the nature of the cosmos as much as it is a theological belief.

Was Jesus a Pantheist ?

Pantheism is the view that the Universe (Nature) and God (or divinity) are identical.

Did Jesus ever say that he was God, and did he ever say that God was everything ? Did he ever say All of Nature = God. As Spinoza did ?

It is recorded that Jesus said "I and the Father are One" John 10:30 and in John 17:21 .... that all of them may be One, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you."

Those gathered there that Hanukkah understood him as affirming his equality with God, for they took up stones to punish him for blasphemy John 10:31, John 10:33, and they said to him that they understood him as affirming that he was God, John 10:33. From the Aramaic...  They were saying to him, “It is not for excellent works that we are stoning you, but because you blaspheme, and as you are a man, you make yourself God.”

Then we read in the earlier Gospel of Yehuda Thoma (Saying 77), Jesus said, "I am the Light that is over all things. I am ALL : from me All came forth, and to me all attained.
Split a piece of wood; I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there." - Logia 77

So if he says he is God, then says that he is also Everything, that is like saying : The Universe and God are Identical. There is only God and Nothing else.... Like saying "there is Nothing Other than God" or Ein od Milvado.......

In the Christmas story why is Jesus born in Beth-leHem ? Because everything about Jesus is a symbol and a metaphor. Everything is a Parable . ... Is he the Bread of Life ?

אני לחם חיים

LeHem leHaim ? He was born in Bet-leHem (House of Bread) after all .... בית לחם

Everything is a play on Words... Jesus is the Word. The Bread of Life. Bread is Life. Everything is One.... there is Nothing else.

Did Jesus exist ? According to the Talmud, Certainly

It is very interesting that these days many people believe that Jesus never existed. They state that there is no proof outside of the New Testament Gospels that Jesus even lived.

These people who state this are some kind of new breed of lazy. There are so many mentions of Jesus, Yeshu ha Notzri, Yeshu ben Yosef, in Hebrew, Aramaic (Syriac), Coptic, Greek, and especially the first followers of the Rabbi Yeshu that it is ridiculous. Not to mention the hundreds of paintings, sculptures and mosaics from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Centuries AD (CE)

1.  Talmud. Sanhedrin 43:

MISHNAH : IF THEN THEY FIND HIM INNOCENT, THEY DISCHARGE HIM; BUT IF NOT, HE GOES FORTH TO BE STONED, AND A HERALD PRECEDES HIM [CRYING]: SO AND SO, THE SON OF SO AND SO, IS GOING FORTH TO BE STONED BECAUSE HE COMMITTED SUCH AND SUCH AN OFFENCE, AND SO AND SO ARE HIS WITNESSES. WHOEVER KNOWS ANYTHING IN HIS FAVOUR, LET HIM COME AND STATE IT.

GEMARA:  Abaye said; It must also be announced: On such and such a day, at such and such and hour, and in such and such a place [the crime was committed], in case there are some who know [to the contrary], so that they can come forward and prove the witnesses Zomemim.

AND A HERALD PRECEDES HIM etc. This implies, only immediately before [the execution], but not previous thereto. [In contradiction to this] it was taught: On the eve of the Passover YESHU  was hanged. For forty days before the execution took place, a herald went forth and cried, 'He is going forth to be stoned because he has practised sorcery and enticed Israel to apostacy. Any one who can say anything in his favour, let him come forward and plead on his behalf.' But since nothing was brought forward in his favour he was hanged on the eve of the Passover!

Ulla retorted: 'Do you suppose that he was one for whom a defence could be made ?

Was he not a Mesith [enticer], concerning whom Scripture says, Neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him ? With YESHU however it was different, for he was connected with the government / Royalty,.'

2. The philosopher Celsus, writing circa 150 to 200 CE, wrote a narrative describing one who discounts the story of the Virgin Birth of Jesus. Scholars have remarked on the parallels (adultery, father's name "Panthera", return from Egypt, magical powers) between Celsus' account and the Talmudic narratives. In Celsus' account : ". . .

[Jesus/Yeshu] came from a Jewish village and from a poor country woman who earned her living by spinning. He says that she was driven out by her husband, who was a carpenter by trade, as she was convicted of adultery. Then he says that after she had been driven out by her husband and while she was wandering about in a disgraceful way she secretly gave birth to Jesus. He states that because he [Jesus] was poor he hired himself out as a workman in Egypt, and there tried his hand at certain magical powers on which the Egyptians pride themselves; he returned full of conceit, because of these powers, and on account of them gave himself the title of God . . . the mother of Jesus is described as having been turned out by the carpenter who was betrothed to her, as she had been convicted of adultery and had a child by a certain soldier named Panthera."

From the Library of the 2nd Century School of Valentinius : Acts of John.

....   "And having thus said, John prayed, and took bread and bare it into the sepulchre to break it; and said: We glorify thy name, which converteth us from error and ruthless deceit: we glorify thee who hast shown before our eyes that which we have seen: we bear witness to thy loving-kindness which appeareth in divers ways: we praise thy merciful name, O Lord we thank thee, who hast convicted them that are convicted of thee: we give thanks to thee, O Lord Yeshu Christ, that we are persuaded of thy Grace which is unchanging: we give thanks to thee who hadst need of our nature that should be saved: we give thanks to thee that hast given us this sure faith, for thou art GOD alone, both now and ever. We thy servants give thee thanks, O Holy One, who are assembled with good intent and are gathered out of the world and risen from death."

52 AD Acts of Thomas (India) :

According to the lot, therefore, India fell unto Judas Thomas, which is also the Twin: but he would not go, saying that by reason of the weakness of the flesh he could not travel, and 'I am an Hebrew man; how can I go amongst the Indians and preach the truth?' And as he thus reasoned and spake, the Saviour appeared unto him by night and saith to him: Fear not, Thomas, go thou unto India and preach the word there, for my grace is with thee. But he would not obey, saying: Whither thou wouldest send me, send me, but elsewhere, for unto the Indians I will not go.

2 And while he thus spake and thought, it chanced that there was there a certain merchant come from India whose name was Abbanes, sent from the King Gundaphorus [Gundaphorus is a historical personage who reigned over a part of India in the first century after Christ. His coins bear his name in Greek, as Hyndopheres], and having commandment from him to buy a carpenter and bring him unto him.

Now the Lord seeing him walking in the market-place at noon said unto him: Wouldest thou buy a carpenter? And he said to him: Yea. And the Lord said to him: I have a slave that is a carpenter and I desire to sell him. And so saying he showed him Thomas afar off, and agreed with him for three litrae of silver unstamped, and wrote a deed of sale, saying: I, Jesus, the son of Joseph the carpenter, acknowledge that I have sold my slave, Judas by name, unto thee Abbanes, a merchant of Gundaphorus, king of the Indians. And when the deed was finished, the Saviour took Judas Thomas and led him away to Abbanes the merchant, and when Abbanes saw him he said unto him: Is this thy master? And the apostle said: Yea, he is my Lord. And he said: I have bought thee of him. And thy apostle held his peace.

The Sefer Tolddot Yeshu states: [8] Yeshu then resolved to go the Temple to acquire again the secret of the Name. That year the Passover came on a Sabbath day. On the eve of the Passover, Yeshu, accompanied by his disciples, came to Jerusalem riding upon an ass. Many bowed down before him. He entered the Temple with his three hundred and ten followers. One of them, Judah Iskarioto[9] apprised the Sages that Yeshu was to be found in the Temple, that the disciples had taken a vow by the Ten Commandments not to reveal his identity but that he would point him out by bowing to him. So it was done and Yeshu was seized. Asked his name, he replied to the question by several times giving the names Mattai, Nakki, Buni, Netzer, each time with a verse quoted by him and a counter-verse by the Sages.

Yeshu was put to death on the sixth hour on the eve of the Passover and of the Sabbath. When they tried to hang him on a tree it broke, for when he had possessed the power he had pronounced by the Ineffable Name that no tree should hold him. He had failed to pronounce the prohibition over the carob-stalk[10], for it was a plant more than a tree, and on it he was hanged until the hour for afternoon prayer, for it is written in Scripture, "His body shall not remain all night upon the tree." They buried him outside the city.

The Resurrection of Jesus, A Jewish Perspective

Pinchas Lapide wrote,

"When this scared, frightened band of the apostles which was just about to throw away everything in order to flee in despair to Galilee; when these peasants, shepherds, and fisherman, who betrayed and denied their master and then failed him miserably, suddenly could be changed overnight into a confident mission society, convinced of salvation and able to work with much more success after Easter than before Easter, then no vision or hallucination is sufficient to explain such a revolutionary transformation.

For a sect or school or an order, perhaps a single vision would have been sufficient – but not for a world religion which was able to conquer the Occident thanks to the Easter faith." (p 125) - Pinchas Lapide,
